Bye, bye

I can't put all the blame on Greater Bay and Peter Willard. I put the largest part of it totally on two past commissions that got us into this mess. Needlessly, they made 40 concerned citizens walk the city streets in less than 30 days to get the required signatures which were certified by the Supervisor of Elections so that we could have the right to vote on their terrible decision to give up public control of our beach property. Then when we did the near impossible, gathering the required signatures for three ordinances, the City Commission voted to sue We Love Lake Worth and the members of the PAC individually, threatening to take their houses.

Next came the McCauley/McNamara law suit that says the lease with Greater Bay is for 43 plus years, not 20 years minus one day. Two private citizens, James McCauley and Laurence McNamara, stood up for the people in this City and stood up for our rights against the government and its very poor decision. This was a tremendously expensive law suit for them to pay to fight for us.

The people spoke out on every public occasion possible even speaking before the Palm Beach County Commission. Did the City listen? No. It never did. That is the main reason why Dave Vespo was defeated. He would not let go of Greater Bay. Even up to the last day of the election, he was in support of the developer and not the citizens that he represented. It took a whole new government to get to where we are today...a lot of work...a lot of time...a lot of money.

It was a long time coming but now, in retrospect, it was all well worth the effort and well worth the wait.

John Rinaldi asked me tonight when I was going to post some positive news. Here it is, John! Greater Bay is gone.
