I Just Don’t Get It

I have to wonder why the Commission does not get advice from our City Attorney Karns BEFORE we get into trouble. Haven’t we had enough law suits?

The City is sanctioning illegal aliens after taking an oath of office swearing to “support, protect and defend” the laws of the Federal Government and the State of Florida. When you become an elected representative, you no longer can have a personal agenda and you must uphold the law. At least, that is the way it is supposed to be.

Now we have Commissioner Jennings’ boyfriend right on the front page of the Post's local section trying to use the “Twinkie” defense for misdemeanor crimes of unlawful assembly, trespassing and resisting without violence. Nope, sorry, Twinkies was some other case.

But to get back to my point--It is illegal for any business to hire illegal aliens. It is illegal for us to aid and abet. We are saying it’s okay to break the law. Every tax paying resident here should be outraged that we are using a city owned building to condone criminal activity.

For some reason, this topic was never mentioned during the campaign and supposedly the Vespo team conducted a survey and the subject of illegal immigration was not one of the top priorities of the residents. Did anyone out there get a call? Let me know if you did. Just because the subject was covered up or too controversial to mention by any candidate does not give it a pass as legally correct. Right, Javier?
