Put American workers first

Representative Ron Klein
313 Cannon HOB, US House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Representative Klein,

Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) is mocking unemployed Americans by demanding amnesty for illegal businesses and their illegal workers. Please put American workers first.

The organizers and hosts of the pro-amnesty events on Capitol Hill this week are using the recession and the pain of American workers and our families to score points for their favorite special interest groups. They are trying to convince you that the election showed Americans want an amnesty for businesses that have been hiring illegal aliens and laying off American workers. The only special interest Congress should be concerned with are American workers.

I am outraged that Rep. Guitierrez is making the case that Americans voted in November to keep illegal workers in their constructions, service, and manufacturing jobs while more than 10 million Americans are looking for a job but cannot find one.

Instead of ending workplace enforcement and protecting employers who leverage their illegal hiring practices to gain unfair advantages over their law-abiding competitors, Congress should level the playing field for businesses and remove illegal labor competition for American workers. Please respond to the recession and mounting job losses by requiring every business to use E-Verify.

Sincerely,
