Latin King Gang member busted on Lake Osborne DR

Comment Up
On 08/14/09 at approx 2331 hrs, units responded to a reported stolen vehicle call that had just occurred at 1421 Lakeview Drive.

While responding Sgt. Roberts came upon a traffic crash at 3080 Lake Osborne Drive. It turned out that the suspect who had stolen the vehicle was driving at high speed while leaving the area, lost control, and hit an innocent person’s vehicle causing major damage to both cars. The suspect then fled on foot taking a laptop computer with him. The innocent person was transported to JFK Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A perimeter was established and after a prolonged search the suspect was taken into custody by K-9. The suspect violently resisted deputies during arrest. He was treated at Wellington for minor injuries and booked into county jail on numerous felony charges. Stolen vehicle case number 09-118014. Hit and Run case number 09-118007.

It should be noted that D/S D’Imperio from Dist 1 sent out an email about this suspect on 08/12/09 after he had contact with him during a suspicious incident. D/S D’Imperio advised that the suspect, W/M Francisco Vega, is Latin King gang member with 34 felony conviction for residential burglaries and stolen vehicles. He had just gotten out of prison after serving a 10 year sentence.

Another one down, 999 more to go.

Whatever happened to that 3 strikes and you're out law. Was that only committing a crime with a weapon?

I am not sure about that Law but I think every State is different. Will do some checking on it. This is a guy who has committed multiple crimes and is an habitual offender. He needs to stay in jail.

How did Commissioner Jennings vote on the gang Task Force? She is a big advocate for freedoom of movement, and Very vocal about her opposition to the Sheriff! Glad the guy was caught! Too bad the crime is spreading!

This creep lives in LW at 605 S PINE ST #8. This is right off of 6th Avenue South east of the RR tracks at I-95.

I agree with above poster. This guy has a death wish and law enforcement should provide it.
