Interesting quotes from Tuesday's Commission Meeting

Comment Up
Commissioner Scott Maxwell

You make more money than the Governor (directed at Susan Stanton, city manager)

Instead of throwing myself out the window I now can hit my head against the wall. This was said after he was informed that his office would be reconfigured without a window but would be larger by 2 square feet.

Why would you shy away from litigation? They need to be held accountable. Speaking to the possibility that the Mentoring Center might sue us.

Clerk, Pam Lopez
All Task Forces have followed formal procedures since Ordinance was formed 5 -6 years ago This was pertaining to the new task force for marketing and city branding that was formed and approved last night by the Commission without going through the process.

Mayor Rene Varela
It was an emergency. Regarding his 2pm addition to the agenda regarding the lease at the CDC. It was NOT an emergency but he said that it was.

Cpt. Rolando Silva PBSO
We could provide a semi annual and annual report on crime stats and what we are doing. This was his answer after he was asked by Commissioner McVoy if the Commission could be informed and given an overview on what PBSO is doing. This is not an unreasonable request in view of the fact that we pay them 15 mil a year. Hearing the rumor that we might get rid of the PBSO, one citizen got all bent out of shape and mentioned all the things that the PBSO has done for Haiti. Good going but Lake Worth pays the bills here for Lake Worth. What have they been doing in and for Lake Worth? 12 break-ins in the Lake Osborne Heights area alone.

I can't speak for all of the neighborhoods, but here in Lake Osborne heights,we have absolutely NO police presence. No patrolling going on. NOTHING. It's just like the old days when the Lake Worth police dept. didn't know that they had to go west of I-95.ZERO bang for our tax bill bucks over here. The COP program has been so mismanaged by the Sheriff's dept that we don't even have those people driving our neighborhoods anymore.
