Joe Kroll applies for Lake Worth City Manager

Comment Up
UPDATE ON EDUCATION-New Resume
Joseph Kroll, Director of Lake Worth's Public Services Department for a little over four years, resigned from Lake Worth in October 2011 to take a job as Southeast regional manager for Winter Park-based Hubbard Construction.

Perhaps that job is not working out too well for him as he's been hanging around Lake Worth. With confidence and encouraged by politicos within the City of Lake Worth who like his easy-going personality, he has submitted his resume to become the new City Manager.

WOW. Could we be so lucky and actually put political BS aside and actually hire not only a qualified candidate for City Manager but someone who respects people when speaking to them? Employees love him because he cares about them. He is a unifier who knows how to get things done. He always had the best interest of the community he worked for at heart. He was working under the most hostile of work environments with Susan Stanton trying to cut him down at the knees at every turn but he would allow it. It was obvious Susan Stanon was jealous of Joe Kroll caused by the overwhelming number of the majority in Lake Worth who have the utmost respect and admiration for his professional performance and how he carries himself as a person. Maybe this city is healing if this blessing comes to fruition. He is an ideal candidate for the job because no one else can bring to the table his level of experience with Lake Worth and the tangled web we have begun to unweave.

That would be great then if Joe Kroll gets the CM position. I always got along with him fine. In fact, when you write/e-mail/call him, he gets the issue resolved quickly. Maybe he might be good. Seems smart and has decent people skills. Plus he knows the city and how it functions, yes, he might be the perfect new CM for Lake Worth. I hope it works out for him and us!

Wow, how does this guy get away with applying for this job when he is unqualified? Parrilla, you are blowing smoke. Just more lousy politics in Lake worth.

You mean lucky to get a "yes" man. Just what we need here Mark.

The trio of commissioners along with their loud mouth friends, are crazier than loons. This is the one who screwed up the park from across where I live. We don't need anyone with no city manager experience to lead this city. Parila and company needs to ride out of town. Setting the city back for years, this would totally stop the city from ever going forward and accomplishing anything except doing favors for friends. I don't want my city used as a dumping ground for crap and corruption and ineptness. Parila, get over yourself. This is not about whether someone speaks sweetly to you and puts up with your wild and insulting comments. If Stanton gave him a hard time it was because he was not performing well.

After Mark stopped yelling at the CM, she put him in his place.

Joe Kroll????????????????????????
He is unqualified and that's putting it mildly.

Mark and I both agree, Joe Kroll is great, he gets things done, he is competent, knowledgeable, good social skills, , not top down, takes initiative, etc. If he did anything wrong that bothers people, it is because he was follow the comm and mayor or cm in doing what they wanted, he should not be blamed. He is a great leaders and people person and I would love to see him become our next CM, he someone you could feel comfortable going into city hall and approaching without worry about their attitude or being condescending. I agree with Mark, Joe is the best choice! When will a decision be made Lynn? Can the NA have a say in the process and interviews?

Love Joe and think he would make a great CM. We need to take the position out of the crazy politics in the city. I say give Joe a 5 year contract. Commission changes and you need to buy him out to get rid of him. If he does a bad job you can still fire him for cause at any time.

The Neighborhood Associations are ALL political. So why wouldn't they have a "say" at least individually as any other member of the public. The public should not be choosing the next city manager. It should be done by professionals who will narrow down to a short list of well qualified candidates. Keep politics out of this decision, Mary and Mark, if you want our city to survive.

Hiring him would be political. Are you not thinking?

AEJ said...

Joe Kroll is very popular in my neighborhood association because he came to the meetings, asked us what we needed, tolds us what he could and couldn't do and why, told us what to present to the Commission and give him on things he couldn't do and gave us maps of our district so we could show exactly where we wanted additional street lights and street repairs.
I was not involved in the Bryant Park argument between JK and Commissioner Mulvehill and I have heard two different sides on the beach pool problems. Do you have an opinion or any additional information on those topics Lynn?

I didn't think you would post my comment even though it followed all your rules. You didn't post it because it was accurate and conflicted with what you are falsely reporting again.

Lynn Anderson said...

What was your comment? Perhaps I missed it or it included an inaccuarate statement or a slur.

Please look back at the history of WASTEFUL & UNAUTHORIZED spending that were approved or initiated by Mr. Kroll ALONE, in the time of his employment with our city. Project mismanagements and bad decisions on his part have cost our city hundreds of thousands of wasted dollars, (or was it over 1 million dollars wasted?) and are still costing the city dollars today.......... just a few examples that I paid attention too........ $150,000. spend on repairs of the casino pool and then the pool was immediately closed back down indefinitely; At S Bryant Park, installing wood rails around the whole park, then almost immediately taken back out for the seawall renovation (how much $ and man-power waste did that cost?)... $90,000. on exercise equipment that retails for $35,000. installed (call the company yourself!), installing playground equipment that had to immediately be replaced by more durable equipment, moving 39 palm trees and spending over $90,000. to build an unnecessary parking lot; At 2nd ave north and the RR tracks, that debacle is still impacting current residents and the city's budget. It may cost the city $200,000. to reopen that intersection and on and on and on! And, like I said before, those are only the things in the last few years I was paying attention to......... Scary!!
I'll give him one thing though, he is a GREAT Politian. He knows how to say what he thinks people want to hear. And unfortunately, sometimes that's what works!

If they had wanted someone highly qualified, they would not have fired the cm. It is all about control with Maxwell ruling with an iron hand. He wants to administer the day to day in LW and can't stand a cm disagreeing with him.

How can you say Stanton was highly qualified? Here communication skills, social skills, attitude, and condescending ways were not what our city needs, those are not positive or enduring qualities, she was not qualified, she was likely mentally ill, treating most of the people horribly, creating low morale in the city among the employees, having a a rude and uncaring way about her with the citizens and public, this is not qualified. The comm did the right thing by firing her. Recall she wanted to give us all these fire and light assessments, recall, she wanted to control all and wanted the comm. to be in her little hands, who is really ruling with an iron hand? I am sorry, but Stanton was not qualified at all, she treated most of us like dirt, she was ill and not happy with herself and made a lot of big mistakes. Stanton was all about control, Lynn talked about that on this very blog tons of times before she was fired. She was horrible, thank God she was fired and is gone, maybe things will get better and we can clean up her messes and hate and insecurities. Stanton was never the right person for the LW CM job from day one.

There is a division of power here. Stanton was the right person for this city. I am sorry that some people hate so much that they can't see past themselves. The fire and street light assessments are a commission decision, not Stanton's. Look for it to happen with this Visionary commission anyway. 2nd string quarterbacks are getting mighty tiring on this blog. How about ceasing all this mean spiritedness and leave the professional management of this city up to the professionals, not those who hate Stanton or love Kroll or the Commissioners who form policy.

Oh did someone say something about the fired city manager again?

Did anyone ever tell you that you are a total azzhole, anony above?

City manager put me in my place? No one could do that because I choose my place, I own my place with my signature I don't hide behind anonymous like an internet cowards and I think it is those who fought and volunteered so hard on Pam Triolo and Andy Amoroso's campaign who put the City Manager in her place, the unemployment line. I forsee a brighter future for our city with a qualified, experienced leader that is Joe Kroll at the helm. I am not leaving this city I will only continue to work harder to make it a better place. So looks like your stuck with me until I stop breathing and I know some pray for that day but that day will come for us all. Now that I have a new and improved heart I just may be around longer than originally expected, sorry to disappoint you.

Jaylen--Are you a TEACHER? If so, how is THAT school rated? Just curious. You should never hire anyone who is unqualified especially for this city. Would you want your kids to be taught Algebra by someone who never took the subject but only took extra curricular activities?

Time will tell and we can all speculate and say who we like or support. Joe Kroll seems to have the experience and will to do this job and I am sure he would make a fine CM, he gan do the job and get along with the comm and public which is key. Good luck Joe!

It's Funny. That PAM TRIOLO our Mayor has a BFA in communications and Radio (First Impressions)and before her stint in the public has never worked for the city or any goverment or municpality, ( she did volunteer for RACE FOR THE CURE) that doesn't take away that she won fair and square and that she's doing a good JOB, but JOE KROLL was qualified.
END of SENTENCE.
