Mary Areson leaves Lake Worth

Comment Up
One of the nicest people the city had in its employ was Mary Areson-Gardner.

She was the executive secretary to the city manager and we all got to know her over the past several years. She was so much more than a secretary, as most executive secretaries generally are. She was always friendly, cordial, helpful and loyal to Lake Worth and her boss.

I was told that Mary's last day was Friday. She is going back to Australia to be close to an ailing mother. We wish her well. She will be missed.

What a loss for the city! Mary was always the consummate professional! She was never without a smile on her face and she invariably kept her composure – regardless of the surrounding often-negative circumstances or pressure. She conveyed that professionalism with every action and elevated the perception of the city to everyone by her kindness. She will be dearly missed. I wish her and her family every blessing.
