Divided Supreme Court Ruling a Mixed Bag

Comment Up
We now have another tax

With Rasmussen saying just days ago that 54% of Americans were against Obamacare, we got it anyway. President Obama said he was not being political but instead pushed for what he considered the right thing for Americans. Not all of the plan was approved today but he won a victory and his campaign might have gotten a shot in the arm by the socialists and liberals.

Obama says it isn't a tax but the Supreme Court says that it is. Read the Mixed Bag on Obama's Healthcare.

Even the Supreme Court's decision was divided: Nearly all of the Affordable Care Act’s provisions also survived the states’ challenge. Chief Justice John Roberts sided with the liberal wing of the Court in the 5-4 opinion...he was was the "swing" vote.  The four justices joining Roberts in upholding the law were Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. The dissenting justices were Justices Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

There are hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country who simply can't afford nor do they want medical insurance. Too bad, said Obama. Congress gave them a break as far as penalities:  only $95 for 2014; $325 for 2015; and $695 in 2016. After 2016, that $695 amount is indexed to the consumer price index.

Congress also decided to give the people a "break" and said that they would not allow the use of liens and seizures of property as methods of enforcing the penalty.

I just do not agree with our government forcing us to show we have health insurance, it just doesn't seem right in America. And then making us show evidence of this on our taxes or be fined. I think this is wrong.

Obama is done politically. Today really slammed the lid on him. Any politician in Washington voting for something the vast majority of American voters do not want is done. Our voices will be heard in November when we kick these Communists out.

Don't be surprised when you have to show your voters registration to get healthcare.

No one can find out anything about Obama. All his records are either sealed or fraudulent.

Oh, c'mon now. I don't like his policies at all, but much of his records are not sealed or fraudulent. It has pretty much been proven that he was born in Hawaii. He is not Muslim, but his daddy was. He quite possibly is a socialist and definitely a union sympathizer, and possibly has communist leanings.

I think he is just as much white as he is black.

Without a single payer system,(like Canada's) his "affordable" health care reform will be anything but. However, he has stated that we will eventually get to single payer once the law takes affect.

Romney is just as bad. Talk about hypocritical, just listen how he tries to downplay his own mandate in Mass. Our political system sucks.

Now we will have to choose between a proven racist who never held a private sector job and someone who has been on both sides of every major issue of our times and has made million$ by outsourcing to foreign countries.

Bend over America, one of these guys will be driving.

How true, anonymous above. I would, however, rather take my chances on Romney. He understands that we can't run our country with a debt ceiling this humongous and survive. As Commander in Chief, he will do everything possible to keep the jobs here and give corporations the break they need to do so and bring this unemployment figure down to half. Failure is not in his vocabulary.

Lynn, Have you had time to look at his record when he was Governor Of Mass. His record is totally different
in what you claim.I lived in Mass. while he was Governor he cannot honestly run on that record.

Don't forget, the majority, big majority, of the Massachusetts legislature was made up of DEMOCRATS when he was Governor.
