I'm not political," says Mayor Pam Triolo

Comment Up
The Mayor

By the sheer description of what you are, a politician, makes you so. You were elected into political office.

Today I tuned into the Mayor's radio show for the first time. I have a curiosity as to what the other opinion is but wondered if there was any disclaimer about her show being political or is this radio show simply being treated as a news event for all of us uninformed schmos out here.

The Mayor said that she  wasn't a politician and then she said, "I don't believe in scare tactics." She wants people to present all of the facts. She further went on to say that "the only people dividing this city are those using the word 'divisive'."  In other words, do not dare disagree with her political view. She had William Waters on the show to confirm, well golly gee, there is no way you can build high because of FAR's and LDR's and such. He fed the company line throughout the entire time I listened.

The LDR's and Comp Plan have been in conflict and now the City has fined tuned what can and can't be built that can not be in conflict with the Comprehensive Plan. The recent as well as past Planning & Zoning boards have been working on the LDR's for years now.

True, the proposed heights in the Comp Plan are less than what was voted upon in a Charter amendment sixteen or twenty years ago. Situations have changed and now we know much more about sustainability. However, staff wants higher heights in areas of our city that were not recommended by the Planning & Zoning board. Staff wanted lower heights in the Park of Commerce and the Commission voted to approve that against the P&Z's recommendation. This was a very weird vote by the Commission because this area is where we will get our tax base, not in the downtown. That all goes to the CRA and the taxpayers will pick up the cost of services.

The graphics that were done to show how high 65 feet is, were torn apart by the Mayor. It is all about heights, Mayor. No one was implying that box shaped buildings would be built with no set-backs and no green, etc.  You and your friends twisted the truth and intent of the graphics. This is not a "scare tactic." There is nothing scary about it. It is about getting it finally "right" about heights and we want to ensure that this city stays a low-rise city.

Keep it low. Let the people vote on 45 feet between Golfview and F Street and 35 feet between F and A Streets. The only "scary thing" is why are you so scared about the people having a voice at the ballot box?

I've asked the Mayor and Commission REPEATEDLY for a
Solution to fix 'this' -

“District Public Forums”
Rules of Procedure - Rule 1
Scheduling of Meetings and Workshops
(4) – “District Public Forums”

“…may be held …one to be held in each district of the city on a rotating basis.”

“Notice of such meetings shall be posted no less than 14 days before each meeting.”

“No official action shall be taken at these meetings.”

I also suggested we be polite and officially deliver an invitation to each of our other district 'REPRESENTATIVES' to join us and 'listen'.

Pretty Please, when we let the other 'reps' respond, can we only give them 2 minutes so they know how it feels to be shut up and shut down? I have a Timer! (ROFL)

Then announce McVoy's "District Public Forum' meeting next and suggest the rest of OUR 'reps' "Do The Same" - have a District Public Forums in their districts! The Mayor can finish w/a City wide OPEN MIC DEBATE. Place signs NEXT TO all the city signs for Yard Trash Amnesty and the Rec Dept so EVERYONE knows about it!

Add Notification INSIDE ALL Electric Bills till every Comp plan and LDR is a 'sealed deal' or LAW.

ALL NEW Legally NON-Complying Properties SHOULD be notified by 1st Class Mail and given priority to speak.

The mayor is so darn full of herself! She needs to start listening to the citizens here, heed their advice and concerns if you want to be successful. Get out into the community more, clean up this city!

OK so lets think for one moment that its finally time that we elect our Lake Worth Commission based on Districts instead of the current process. Would you not want to vote for someone that would represent your district as to a city wide decision based on people that do not live in your neighborhood? THAT is something we need in "The City of Lake Worth"

Lynn what do you think the general opinion is of the new mayor since she has been in office? Are most happy with her?

I have ALWAYS said, the residents MUST get to city commission meetings and see the action first-hand. Even with the recent video camera that has been installed, (you can now see it from your computer) you don't get the same "feel" of things.

The Mayor is a charming gal. When under pressure, however, that smile can turn off like a NY Minute and so can the personality. She is tougher than Waterman ever would have imagined to be.

She is as political as they come. One of the reasons why she beat Waterman (besides the obvious) was the fact that she WAS political in her approach and could work the crowd. Waterman had no part of that part of politics and it cost her.

She allows herself to be persuaded by ONLY her camp and the Vice Mayor. We are all hoping that she will come into her own and be able to be a leader. So far, some of her decisions have been costly and some just plain ridiculous such as changing the name of our City and putting that on the ballot but denying the right to vote on downtown heights. The first bad decision started with the firing of Susan Stanton.

Rating so far on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 tops--(can't rate her)

Thanks for your input, maybe you can let us rate her, do a survey for us?

Seems funny that your side is crying for an open debate and equal radio time while having a closed FB Page that excludes non believers.

The PAC's page is for people wanting to help get the issue on the ballot. It is NOT for you all to come over there and debate this issue. Go to Wes's site and hurl your attacks to your heart's content. Leave sensible people alone. Get it?

One person on the site asked for open debate. It will NOT be on this page. It is by invitation only; it always has been. We are looking for people to help, not hinder. Get it?

If this is such a hot topic and the entire city is against the decision why does the PAC have to work soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
hard to attract people?

Have you ever heard of "leaving it for the other guy to do"? Apathy and this time of year is very difficult. Have you ever petitioned or do you just like being aj erk?

No one is "crying for an open debate". We're talking to voters. We asked the mayor to approve the ballot item on June 19th and she declined. There's nothing to debate, unless you think that residents shouldn't be allowed to have a say in what their city looks like.
