Custodial Services for Lake Worth owned buildings

Comment Up
The Commission voted on janitorial service for the coming budget year beginning October 1 and voted to contract with Image Janitorial Services for $116,556 per year with two (one) year renewals.

There are 13 locations throughout the city but no where in the City of Lake Worth's Bid requirements does it mention the bathrooms near Benny's on the Beach that are being constructed, soon to be completed. It only mentions the Casino Alternative #3. Tuesday night during the Public Hearing on the Budget, I asked the question but received no answer.

Relative to the Casino, the City said:

Casino Building: Please provide an Alternative for cleaning all common areas at the new Lake Worth beach front Casino building: -Cleaning of all corridors, stairwells, and elevators to keep them free of all trash and debris -Removal of all trash -Restocking of paper supplies in restrooms as needed (no paper towels necessary due to hand dryers) -Maintaining the highest level of cleanliness in all restrooms at all times (including but not limited to floors, sinks, counter tops, doors, mirrors, urinals, toilets, walls, partitions, hand rails, etc)

First Floor Women‟s (South end): 4 toilets, 3 sinks
First Floor Women‟s (North end): 2 toilets, 3 sinks
First Floor Men‟s (South end): 1 toilet, 1 urinal, 2 sinks
First Floor Men‟s (North end): 1 toilet, 1 urinal, 3 sinks
First Floor Unisex: 1 toilet, 1 sink
Second Floor Women‟s (South end): 4 toilets, 3 sinks
Second Floor Women‟s (North end): 2 toilets, 3 sinks
Second Floor Men‟s (South end): 1 toilet, 1 urinal, 2 sinks
Second Floor Men‟s (North end): 1 toilet, 1 urinal, 3 sinks

*Casino must be maintained for all hours it is operational: Monday – Wednesday from 6:00am – 12:00am, Thursday – Saturday from 6:00am – 1:00am, Sunday from 6:00am – 11:00pm.

As this janitorial service must have someone on site during the casino hours of operation, it is difficult to conceive that any company can give us quality service at this price.  And what about the restrooms near Benny's? These are the rooms that will be used the most and no where do I find that they are addressed in the contract unless it is under the section for the Casino.

Public Restrooms can be well maintained, tidy and neat even if the city manager disagrees but it takes daily attention.

What about paying for janitorial services for the CRA building on J Street. Are we going to get reimbursed by them?

The bathrooms at the beach were deplorable during the Stanton/best commission ever regime.
Where were your complaints then?

We now are redeveloping our beach at the tune of $13 million bucks soon to be finished. This has nothing to do with past contracts or Stanton, but taking care of our city including the beach and the new bathroom now in a new contract. Stanton has been gone for 9.5 months. The bathrooms at the beach near the pool were old and needed to be refurbished--for years--not just under Stanton who knew that the beach was going to be re-done. Now staff has screwed the contract and those bathrooms are not going to be remodeled. Why not? They originally were supposed to be included. We think we know why.

The bathrooms were always KEPT UP as far as tissue and soap and clean-ups

after seeing the front page of the Herald yesterday, I will be surprised if there will be a need for the service in 6 months.

Why is that anony? Is this more doom and gloom by all of you who were against the casino? Change the hardware.

I have never been against the Casino. but it is a little more than hardware!!! The fronts of the elevators, and the water fountains are also rusting out.. Not to mention the buckled floors in the upstairs In other words the dance floor is shot, and we have not even opened the doors yet.
