Candidate Debate in Lake Worth on October 22

Comment Up

The neighborhood President's Council met for 5 hours on Saturday, October 12th, to discuss and toss around the questions they want for the debate that will be held at The Lake Worth Playhouse on the same night as the Presidential final debate at Lynn University, October 22. The NAPC will finalize its questions on Wednesday.

The Neighborhood Associations, for the most part, are politically charged with College Park being numero uno on that politically charged list. Last year's debate was a disgrace. The bullies reigned. So much of the debate depends upon the moderator who controls the questions and answer session. That didn't happen last year. It was a slug fest for one political faction and it was allowed to happen.

We essentially know the questions. An incumbent will be blamed for any screw-up even if utterly ridiculous such as rusty door handles at the casino. We will not tolerate the bullet point answers regarding heights such as--because we need a hotel, because there are only 3 parcels where you could even build a 6 story building, because it would be compatible with the other buildings on those blocks that are already 6 stories--you know, all the BS answers to turn around the height referendum and to grow up our city. And the public won't put up with the short phrased answer for height limitations in our downtown, we believe in a low-rise city. There will have to be factual, succinct explanations on this topic.

The challenger will tell everyone what he will bring to the table. No one ever completely believes someone with no political record that can't be held to scrutiny. It's all rhetoric and answers coached by those on the campaign team, some with special interests. In this case, it is  Stafford's campaign manager, Wes Blackman, who has experience with campaigns as he ran himself and lost to Jo-Ann Golden, a loss that he can't grasp to this day. As one lady told me, he rode up on his bike and introduced himself as the chair of the Historical Board and wanted her to vote for Stafford.

Wes Blackman, presently Chair of the Historical Preservation Board, and Jim Stafford go way back together when Stafford was hammering Lake Worth as "lakeworthless" and when he had his LakeWorthTalk blog that cyber attacked everyone. Wes now resorts to uploading photos of me to hold up to anonymous cyber ridicule to get hits on his blog. He takes vicarious pleasure from this and in his mind it confirms he has been right all along--gee Anderson sucks, etc., etc... anonymous posters are confirming it. Nothing has changed other than the degree of personal attacks that has escalated now that his preferred candidate is in the mix even on the PB Post. Coincidence? No one can have a different opinion from this bunch. It always gets back into the slime. It's all politics and you can always count on one faction in this city throwing the muck.

The opponent will probably talk about slum, blight, crime, and try to blame it on the incumbent and then venture onto our electric utility and the pros and cons of selling it. This one should be interesting as Jim Stafford leans toward selling it if rates aren't competitive. Years ago he just wanted to sell it...period. "I know that if we make the right decisions, we can have an electric and water utility that is a public benefit with competitive rates," he says. The thing is, it ALREADY IS a public benefit.

The plan has always been to lower rates and they have been lowered again, and this year the reduction is 6.4%. However, we are still paying about $1.5 million for the conservation fund with that item being paid from the operational budget instead of from the Utilities, a camouflage that tricked the public into believing that they were getting a savings of an additional 1.4% on their utility bill but not telling them that they would be paying for it elsewhere. When you don't tell the public the whole truth, is it a lie?  In 2014 our rates could be 25% lower when we go with our new energy provider.

One thing that won't be brought up are the Unions and their escalating costs--their ridiculous retirement benefits, that have been unsustainable for years not just in Lake Worth but all cities.  They will talk about the Budget in general and why McVoy voted against it. Will they bring up that the present commission's hand was in the cookie jar this year and robbed reserves to meet operations or will that topic be avoided as McVoy voted against using our savings. Did they dip into our savings to pay for the conservation fund?

There has to be mutual courtesy between the candidates as well as the moderator, John Paxman.  Mr. Paxman has proved that he can do this even though his personal support has always been to one side of the politics in this city. If the moderator has given a campaign contribution or has supported a candidate in any way, it should be disclosed. The Dais is now controlled by four votes beginning in November without even considering this election.

John Szerdi will be at the debate to make a statement. It is too bad that he was allowed to float into the District 4 seat without opposition as he was a part of the beach redevelopment. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered there by all those involved in the beach and the extra costs involved as well as the lousy parking design. Part of the original parking lot is being used for new restrooms designed by Szerdi's company instead of using that money for the original restrooms at the pool area. We need to know the truth behind this switcheroo. Szerdi might just have those answers.

I believe we need representatives who will give the other side of the argument and expose all the options and put them out there for the public to see instead of one side blaming every ill in this city on everything and everyone but the facts and being a rubber stamp to the trio. As hearing both sides of the argument IS democracy, we deserve nothing less, McVoy is the only one who will do this and a candidate who does not hide behind anonymous to body slam his opponent.

Lynn, pay no attention to Wes or Jim, they are both negative and hateful evil spirits, not worth it. They lie, cheat, and are corrupt. They show what they want on their blogs, not what people say, they won't publish the truth to cover up for their looser friends, looser friends like the owner of 1306 Lucerne who doesn't keep up his property now tagged with tons of graffiti all boarded up and uncared for with a roof crashing in, but this is how Wes, Jim, and all their cronies work, cover for all, that is why we have all this blight, but we can all see through their lies and evil ways. Wes never won back several years ago, because people saw how he was in the campaigns, attacking, people really see through people like Jim and Wes, they want power, but for all the wrong reasons. Keep up the great work Lynn, pay no attention to those loosers, Wes is not worth it, nor Stafford, evil spirits never are. God be with you.

Jim Stafford of his "Lake Worthless" vicious, website of smearing, slandering and lying about honorable, honest, taxpayer Citizens,
needs FREE HEALTH CARE, and $7000 in perks. This guy has never done anything but spit on our City and its' citizens. In case that foul character doesn't know, that guy does not pay our taxes, and Lake Worth Citizens are expected to pay for his Healthcare benefits with $7,000,- in perks, like a free Credit card if he should get elected. Only idiots and sleazes supporting sleazes would offer such a candidate to Lake Worth, an Hysterical, vulgar bi-polar slanderer. College Park residents of the same level will rally around this rogue candidate now trying to fool people with fake goals and fake manners. He does not know that our Utility provides the general Fund $9,000,000 which pays for all City employees and Services! He proposes to sell it, crippling our City and not being able to pay employee benefits such as Health Insurance and perks! Stafford, another destructive idea harming the City. Vote with reason, intelligence and someone with knowledge of our City. Vote Mcvoy.

Wes Blackman is suffering under the delusion that he is Louis XIV, the Sun King..He is unreproachable.
But in Truth he is a sleazebag of the highest order and should be lumped in with Lake Worth swindler and ignorant douchebag, the one and only Herman Robinson..Just ask Ella at Lake Worth Jeweler and her experience at the Hat Shop. With the exception of Juan Contin, and the other gentleman, the Historical Board is a farce. So they put up Stafford another low class idiot who has as much knowledge of the workings of Lake Worth as does the historical board knowing what a doric or ionian column is and to Staffords knowing what wattage is...But then Lake Worth citizens are mostly apathetic and the ones who do vote get these type of characters...there is something to be said for both dictators and the monarchy.

Dee gets a lot of things right.

The city is incapable of getting qualified people to run and they are also known not to read contracts nor do they understand them. Why do we have the poorest contract with PBSO among all the cities, a cost that isn't even addressed.

Mr. Stafford has garnered a total of 2 endorsements- the Realtors Association of Palm Beach and HISpac.
The RAPB had a large hand in destroying our local economy with inflated appraisals, liar loans and now want to do it all again with Amendment 4, taking away another chunk of income for local governments just for the sake of their commissions.
HISpac sounds like mudslingers who will join the Materios and Lindsays of the world, spewing hate from the gutter.
He's got one personal endorsement too- Mac McKinnon, the least prepared yes man from Romano days who approved most of the ghost town condos that encroach on single family neighborhoods all over our city.
Mr. Stafford offers nothing for Lake Worth citizens except a rubber stamp for realtor and developer interests.

To 2-said,
You post on both Wes's and Lynn's blog's under assumed names or annonmyous. You are always attacking Greg Rice for his building on Lucern, and I happen to think it looks a great deal better than some of the homes around me. I'm not talking about the abandoned or foreclosures either. As a christian, I would expect better from you. You need to pray for guidence as your actions are not pure. We all need to be civil and stop the hating.

Actually, for an "abandoned" property (not abandoned in the traditional sense) that is boarded up, it doesn't look that bad to me either. At least there is no more graffiti like there used to be from a few years ago and the paint is not chipping off.

The individual complaining about this property has some unknown motive for their dislike of Greg Rice. I have never seen the property look better than it has the last year or so. The grass is constantly being cut and trash picked up. There are people who take advantage and post their for rent sign's on the property and yes the building was tagged with grafitti nite before last. If you really care about the hole in the roof, you have to tresspass on the property and look for it. Greg, thanx for stepping up and taking better care of the property, My neighbors and I appreciate it.

Who is publicly endorsing Dr. McVoy?

Lynn Anderson said...

We'll find out on November 6

None of these comments were posted by Dee McNamara. While they may be negative and nasty, they aren't rambling and incoherent.

Dr McVoy is endorsed by The AFL-CIO and Democracy for America (DFA).

The city is starting to have a lot more graffiti, blight, and crime again, there are many uncared for properties and people who do not assume responsibility for their conditions. The city owns many properties that they do not even keep clean. Living with mediocrity seems to be the norm these days, like we all are supposed to settle for less than best here.

No tresspassing needed, just stand at the corner of D and Lucerne southside and look over at the dump and you can see the big gaping hole in the roof dear. If this building was in this condition in College Park, Bryant Park, South Palmway, or Parrot Cove, it would be torn down, those NA would make sure of it. Why is the westside allowed to be dumpier? I do not accept your mediocrity s. williams nor that of the city, rice, or others who allow and continue to accept it. Sorry.

That LakeWorthTalk blog Jim had a few years ago was a disgrace, many lost a lot of respect for him with that. The same way with how many are losing respect for the Blackman blog. They both did a lot of harm to our city and brought it down. Not sure how any of them can win awards for lies and half truths. They have both been very mean and hateful to Lynn and this blog too. I hope neither of them ever win a commission seat in this city, we all deserve better than their slanderous ways.

Come on people take a look at the property at 1624 north Dixie. Then you will see what real blight is. This is on main street Lake Worth. This is what everyone sees traveling thru our city. Is it no wonder businesses won't stop and open here. When one thinks about it Dixie Hwy. is the face of our city.West Palm Beach understands this and is doing something about it.Lets not wait til all the cities around us become more prosperous and achieve that which could and should be ours as well.

The only blogger who is into fantasy, negativity and personal attacks is Blackman. He has made some bad choices and needs to become an adult.

Blackman lost how many elections? Besides being a nasty and angry loser himself who would stab his mother in the rear end he is campaigning for the biggest loser of all.Can it get any worse in this city? Seriously? Words are cheap Blackman. Why would Stafford make a better commissioner? Oh he's a father with four kids who understands what? Really?
