What 'The Butler' gets wrong about Ronald Reagan and race
Hollywood has a responsibility to produce films by reporting the message correctly as do media in general. Bloggers also need to do their research and have the facts before making an opinion. Ethics is very much a part of what we do when we disseminate information to the public. Being truthful, accurate, objective, fair and accountable are requisites.
The movie, "The Butler" is now under scrutiny for its inaccuracies in portraying Ronald Reagan. The movie industry, of all media outlets, has a duty to get it right. It can be a great movie and this one is a box office smash that captures the spirit of the times. However, if facts are omitted, it can become revisionist history years later.
