Re: SB 1714 Senator Stargel, the bill's sponsor, compared the craft brewery industry to children and the senate to parents. She stated that the Senate (like a good parent) knew better than the Microbreweries (the children). That these "children" just didn't understand what was good for their business. She also feels that if the 3-tier system isn't preserved that rampant alcoholism will ensue. You, the consumer, will clearly become an alcoholic if you buy your beer directly from a manufacturer. However, if you buy your beer from a retailer that has purchased from a distributor, that has purchased from a manufacturer, you will be saved from your impending drunken stupor.
