Dear Representative Frankel,
Please do not support Rep. McCaul's efforts to include his border
legislation, H.R.1417, as part of the solution to end the border surge.
The bill would weaken current law and give the Senate an opportunity to
attach the Gang of Eight's amnesty to the deal.
Rep. McCaul's
bill is not the answer. The American people need a solution that forces
Pres. Obama to begin the immediate deportation of illegal aliens. Until
Pres. Obama can prove to Congress and the American people that he will
enforce the laws already on the books, he shouldn't be given a blank
check, nor should Congress pass a bill that would weaken existing law.
The McCaul border bill, H.R.1417, only requires DHS to submit a plan
to secure high-traffic border areas and eventually the entire Southern
border. What about our Northern border? What about our maritime borders?
Under existing law, the federal government must make every effort to
prevent ALL illegal border crossings, but by focusing solely on the
Southern border, Rep. McCaul's bill would actually make matters worse.
Please do not support any efforts to include H.R.1417 as part of the solution to the ongoing border crisis.
