Yet another blog of yours to show how despicable the residents of Lake Worth are. I am surprised you can stand to live in this town.

Crime is all over, anonymous but Lake Worth has more than its fair share. It's really a shame in today's society that you have to keep everything under lock and key and watch your back and you can't even go to our beach. It's a shame that we pay nearly 70% of our operating budget on public safety and no one is really safe. Don't you think so, anonymous? As it turns out, this criminal lives in the County, but it sure doesn't help tourism and those bringing their families here to spend money that goes right into our general fund.

Why do you seem so perturbed about this reported carjacking any at 5:23? We have way too much crime and no one is doing anything about it. In fact, we get a post reporter who says crime is going down. Where do these people get their fats? Tell it to the next victim.

Anonymous @ 6:52--some people seem to take any exposure of crime happening in Lake Worth, any fact at all, as being against the city, against PBSO. What we are against is ALL THE CRIME. This has nothing to do with politics.

Ever visit the city-data.com forum, where posters advise people not to go to our beach?

Lynn, Greg RIce here. We all know that blogs are opinion platforms used by the writers to express individual opinions. They're not to be used as "real news" sources. The article you linked this blog thread on was a newspaper article about a carjacking that took place at yes, the beach. But if you read where the reporter said the car was stolen at was not at LW's beach, it was at Palm Beaches beach. A city that pays dearly for police protection in their well healed community. We all know crime happens everyday, everywhere. Even in communities like PB and Boca. Does LW have insidents of crime? Sure. It happens everywhere. Even the White House gets broken into, and what do we taxpayers pay to protect the occupants of that place? I know you like to keep the problem of crime and its impact on society in the spotlight, but implying that the shred link of a feloney crime that took place in a neighboring city and implying it cast a bad light on our city and regional beach complex, and implying it's PBSO's fault is uncalled for. Most of the people who commented on this thread would have probably never read the article in the "Shinny Sheet" and not read the reported carjacking took place at 300 S. Ocean Blvd. that's a long way, in more ways than one, from LW.

So, it was the title you objected to? What about the essence of it all? Does that bother you or only that it was in Lantana where it happened? Some people seem to have a laissez faire attitude about all the crime here...always giving excuses. "Oh that robbery was in the County not the City or the carjacking was down the road not at LW beach."

And I have news for you--there is much more than just opinion on this blog.

Thanks, Greg.
P.s. Missed you at the Memorial Day Services

I hate crime and I sure wish we were not in the news all the time for our sky high crime rates. I hate that the local news reports crime in the county as "Lake Worth" as it makes us look worse than we are. The Post reported that our crime rates are down slightly, but we are still way higher than we should be, in fact the third highest in the County.

I am all for PBSO but they need to do their job. Why are people afraid of talking about crime, let's talk about it, but more than that, let's do something about it. Our elected officials need to be asking PBSO about these incidents and these crime rates.

We pay a huge chunk of our operating budget to PBSO, does that mean its not worth it. Not at all, but I would expect that for the amount we pay to get the very best service and to get reports from PBSO at our commission meetings, etc. I would expect the stewards of our budget, the CM and our Commission, to make sure we are getting what we pay for.

Why are they so afraid to talk about this issue?

they're afraid to talk about it because crime is not going down in spite of what the sheriff claims.
