Why this bill is a big deal. It would allow the power to submit trade deals to Congress for an up-or-down vote with limited debate and no amendments. Congress can't change it.
In a rather bizarre situation, the president’s ability to finalize a trade deal was pushed through by
Senate Republicans. Last night 48 Republicans joined with 14 Democrats
to successfully approve the measure. The vote was 62-38.

Can't believe it, but I think I agree with Democrats on this one. Will have to do some more reading on it. Look how NAFTA worked out for us :(
Clinton believed that NAFTA would create jobs and good-paying American jobs. It didn't happen and it seems that this new bill will just build up foreign economies at the expense of American workers.
