Lake Worth's subterfuge on the Homeless

Comment Up

Frank Cerabino hit the nail on the head.

Read his article on Lake Worth's new Ordinance to get rid of the Homeless.

What time does our new curfew on public spaces start?

The times for opening and closing Resolution failed because the mayor left the room. It failed on a 2/2 vote to establish hours. There is no effect at the moment. it will probably be on the next agenda.

Unlike the local LWHerald editor, Cerabino "got it." The local lake worth paper is anarchy written by a mindless twit.

Again, Cerabino forgot to mention when this curfew starts. What time?

The vote on the park hours was illegal!

The rules of procedure Rule 4 (4) says
"The Chair SHALL NOT make or second a motion".

The Mayor passed the gavel and the Vice Mayor
became the Chair and he WAS NOT ALLOWED to 2nd
the motion - so the vote is "Null & Void", no?

Saddest part is the 30 min workshop rule was also broken
by the Mayor who declared they (at 8:42pm) "violated it a
million times"! That should also make the vote on Public
Places becoming parks "Null & Void", no?

Reps do not get to decide which rules they will obey
and which ones they will violate. Try that one next time
code comes after you - tell them the Mayor (the trio) violate
when they want and you'll do the same!

The curfew (illegally) voted on was sunset to sunrise

Thanks for the info--I had already left the meeting and wondered how a motion was made. Now, that's sneaky stuff.

I'm for the new ordinance, don't like it but I'm for it. The situation at the plaza is out of hand and must be addressed, if this ordinance will make PBSO deal with the ongoing crime there, it works for me.

These folks are not homeless, they are hobos, they are choosing to be homeless b/c they prefer to spend their funds on drugs and drinks.

Speaking of mindless twits, Cerabino writes:

"“Homeless people cannot legally be punished for carrying out in public daily activities of living when they have no alternative provided them,” Schneider told commissioners. “I hope you will explore constructive solutions to homelessness, then, rather than adding to the difficulties homeless persons experience.”

The key phrase being "when they have no alternative provided them".

Alternatives are provided each and every one of them. If they don't want to take advantage of the programs being offered, then let them move along and drag down some other community.

Yes I realize there are mental health issues but why should Lake Worth receive the brunt of the whole area problem?

We have no facilities for the homeless in Lake Worth. NONE.

I just have to wonder what Mark Easton thinks of Cerabino's article. They are polar opposites in what they believe.
