Ryan Hartman Candidate Lake Worth Commissioner District 1

Comment Up

Just endorsed by the DFA (Democracy for America Palm Beach County), this past Sunday, Ryan Hartman spoke to many people who came to hear him and ask questions. For a young man, he is very mature...calm, cool and collected. Being an activist, he is used to controversy and confrontation and stands up for what he believes. He is not going to back down to the fact that people and the environment need to be protected and some, like the Homeless, need a lot of help.

Right now we have a huge Homeless problem within our city. Back in 2012, the incumbents signed an agreement with Palm Beach County that said that the PBSO would take the Homeless (at their cost) to the Philip D. Lewis Center on 45th Street but conduct screenings to ascertain who among them had active arrest warrants and those who were sexual offenders before they qualified or referred to the Center. Now, 4 years later, our Homeless situation in Lake Worth has grown leaps and bounds, some of it due to Sober Homes. Does PBSO take any of them to the 45th Street Center?  We don't know as they have never told us in a public meeting.

When elected, Ryan plans on doing something about it and will look for solutions to the growing and out of control Homeless problem in our city, one of the things he touched on Sunday night, along with safer streets for everyone and transparency in government.

Ryan says, "Everyone agrees that Lake Worth is riddled with homeless people and drugs. Scott Maxwell has been in power for six years and in that time, the problem has only grown. I arrived in a town full of homeless people. I arrived in a town that has heroin needles on the sidewalks. Obviously what Maxwell is doing isn't working; it's time for a change."

Give me a break. This guy will start feeding the homeless and encouraging more to come to our city. Did you hear one solution to solve this problem. He is all talk with no plan to solve anything. This guy is a radical who will put his own personal agenda ahead of the needs of our city. Lynn you would vote for anything running against Scott and that's a real shame.

The "REAL shame" is your jumping to conclusions.
I already know Maxwell's record on the issues...want me to name them?

I'm willing to hear from someone else on the homeless problem, it has gotten worse not better. I've lived here more than 15 years and it has never been worse. Why is that, why is PBSO silent on the issue, why does the CM basically throw up his hands and say nothing we can do its beyond us?

I'm not sure this guy will solve the problem, but after Maxwell's reign I'm ready to hear from someone new.

Lynn why don't you get off the pot and tell us you support this guy who appeared before the commission and said he wanted the homeless cared for in our parks. Water fountains needed and nice benches for them to sleep on. Word gets out that this is the city where you can live in our parks support of the city commission and we are dead in the water. So do you support him or not?

I agree totally. Great last paragraph in your write up. This present bunch has compounded our homeless problem by a huge amount. Something is really wrong in Lake Worth when families are afraid to take their kids to our parks. What we have is gross mismanagement on many fronts. Ryan is not a wacko radical; that's just what the gang of 3 wants you to believe so they can continue their reign of neglect and catering to developers money. Ryan respects the rights of people, unlike this administration. There are many things that can be done; it's just that NOTHING is being done now. And he won't sell us down the river to deliver a piece of oceanfront pie to HH. It's high time we had true representative government. No more land deals in the dark. The do nothing but develop mantra has got to go. Why do you suppose we have no money for anything else?

What was shocking was that the city removed the benches and the water fountains. It was their way to deal with the issue. Another head in the sand decision. Other residents spoke out AGAINST their action.

Isn't Hartman's stance re: the homeless, to heed to their needs, which we all can agree upon,....But why does it have to be in Bryant Park?
I am interested to hear his position on Immigration.
At the same time, it is common knowledge now, that he is tightly entwined with the Cara Jennings and Panagiotti anarchists.
I think if we once again we elect declared Anarchists to the Dais, we are taking 100 steps back...so sad.

Please name all of the "anarchist" things that Cara Jennings did while she was commissioner and working on behalf of the people of LW. Now, mind you, I am not talking about what she did on her personal time like at the Israeli embassy in Miami.
