Hudson Holding's Parking Plan

Good luck to all those who live right across from this property on South Lakeside Drive and 1st Avenue South. They want your parking and trust me, they will get it.  You would be better off buying a bike or a scooter because not only will you not have a place to park but the congestion will be out of this world. Unless, of course, the city takes up Wes Blackman's suggestion and hands over our beach parking.  What a light bulb moment!

Speaking of parking or lack of it, what's with the coffee place parking a large van taking up two spaces on Lake Ave, free advertising?

What's up with the classic car parked downtown with the incumbents signs on it? Free campaign advertising?

What's up with bringing up new hurdles for the redevelopment of the Gulfstream? Can you find anything good about the plan?

ANYTHING they do to bring back the Gulfstream will increase parking requirements, traffic, density and excitement in that area. The only option is to do NOTHING, which you have stated over and over that you don't want that.

I say get use to living in a bustling City where traffic is part of living downtown. Its all good peoples...just chillax.

@2:30...I just posted what HH produced in their Power Point. It is a big hurdle in my opinion but it did not faze the Historic board.

It was a hotel 40 years ago and there wa traffic, it was a hotel 30 years ago, and even 20 years ago... Cars have been a part of the 'traffic volume' for longer than most all residents in the surrounding area and most likely the entire city of LW.

Just because they bought or rented in an area near a hotel district, that was underutilized or in this case shuttered for a decade, doesn't mean that they should not have known of the potential for traffic volume to increase due to the nature and zoning of the hotel district if in fact a hotel enterprise was re-established in the existing footprint.

It's almost like you got used to playing ball in the vacant lot next-door and then got all pissed off when the owner of the vacant lot decided to build a house and took away your playground.

Maybe we should refer people to better realtors who will actually disclose the history of an area.

This is a traffic plan for another 87 rooms plus a parking garage, anonymous at 4:15 that has NOT been a part of our history. So, I don't really understand your sarcasm here.
This is a plan showing using the city street for part of their parking requirement. This is a plan for a commercial enterprise right next door to residential.

The word Realtor is capitalized but it doesn't matter as it's all about the money isn't it? Developers, Realtors and the like win and the residential property owners surrounding the place lose.

I would like to see them renovate the historic Gulfstream hotel. Is that ever going to happen?

4:15pm you sound like a know it all. We have a lot of them in this town. The hotel district was implemented by pam triolo and the change of the zoning was done by these incumbents from residential to commercial. Are we as homeowner supposed to anticipate developer political whores changing zoning on us? Really?

Why was this approved so damn fast? Where is the traffic study? Were neighbors notified and invited to give comment? I've never heard of such a big project flying through approvals this quick. OH WAIT. Hudson Holdings bought off Wes Black, Szerdi, Darrin Engle, Bob Lepa and who knows how many others!! Seems like at least 20 people are on the take in this town AT LEAST. Sold your souls, didn't you guys?? Guess you figured you weren't usin em anyway!

Fast? As compared to the speed you want it to go...as in not at all. There is a process, anon at 10:32. And every zoning/variance applicant makes application, staff reviews and its publicly noticed and put on the agenda for a public meeting. Are you asking for your own process and at your own speed? So funny and really sad listening to winers and conspiracy theorists whobwant the process changed to their own liking. You want to study it for years but that's not the process. Bought and paid? Hahahahaha get a grip or loosen up that self serving grip on yourself!!

The city shows its contempt for those living in residential dwellings all for development. Government is to protect people and their homes, not do the opposite. You people really take the cake. Despicable.

Where did Gulfstream visitors park 10 years ago. I don't remember.

Also, I thought most of the neighbors were in favor of this project, no?

When the Gulfstream Hotel was opened for business years ago, there was a vacant lot next door. Now that lot will be developed with a new property as well as a garage and there will be a lot more people and a heck of a lot of congestion.

The neighbors that might be in favor of it are those promised a parking spot in the new parking garage...Gulfstream Towers. Don't know of any other neighbor who might be in favor of it.
