Goddess of Democracy given "the finger" by anarchist/protesters

Back on June 12, 2007,  President George W. Bush dedicated The Victims of Communism Memorial. The dedication ceremony featured the unveiling of the “Goddess of Democracy,” a bronze replica of the statue erected by Chinese students in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, China in the spring of 1989. The Memorial is located at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and New Jersey Avenue, NW on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

Marion Smith of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation said: A group of radicals on their way to a protest, organized in part by the Party for Socialism and Liberation which believes "the only solution to the deepening crisis of capitalism is the socialist transformation of society," recently descended on the Victims of Communism Memorial in Washington, DC.

For some reason they thought it would be a good idea to give the middle finger to our Memorial—literally—and then had the audacity to brag about it all over social media.

Has Freedom of speech gone too far? We have the world's freest country that allows anarchists, protesters and communists broad political liberties so that they can be disrespectful to our monuments and to our way of life.
