Church in California suing their city for being charged property taxes

As the City of Lake Worth becomes more and more liberal with an elected body of commissioners agreeing to give $25,000 of taxpayer money to Puerto Rico, don't think that taxing churches couldn't happen here. In the past it has been suggested.
.
A church in San Rafael, California, is suing the city for charging thousands of dollars through a special property tax from which religious facilities are supposed to be exempt. But then, California is one of the top "progressive" liberal states in the country.

The action was brought in Superior Court for Marin County by the Pacific Justice Institute on behalf of Valley Baptist Church.

Years ago, the Catholic Church, Sacred Heart in Lake Worth even printed up handouts for their parishioners who vote how to vote for who are pro-life, I think a lot of churches over step their bounds, many priests here over the years try to push their political agenda, now this church is supporting all the illegals. They are part to blame for all the lawlessness and chaos in this city. The priest here now who comes from the poorest country, Haiti, now is telling his parishioners how to dress, telling them to come to church dressed up as if they were coming to visit the governor. Churches want all the control, have their priests live in palaces with servants cooking and cleaning for them, and they only do a mass a day, they live like royalty and make $40000 a year, this priest at SH drives a $42K car, doubt Pope Francis would approve, priests and churches need to be more humble today and stop pushing their political agendas, you are right Lynn!

This is so true, yet churches tend to be the biggest hypocrites. Do you know that the priest, Fr. Paul, at St. Andrews will not let people who he thinks are gay drink from the chalice, only heterosexuals. It seems like he thinks all gays are HIV+ and may give someone else AIDS if they drink from the chalice, so he makes gays dip their host in the wine instead. This just goes to show you who the people of the clothe are really not all they should be, they have their own agendas and opinions and are not inclusive of all. So much hypocrisy! I think today most churches should have to pay some taxes, they should not be completely exempt.

To the liar at 12:41 I have known Father Paul for years. What you just said about him is a total load of crap. I have been to many services where Father Paul was the priest and have taken communion at all of these services.EVERYONE ,including gay parishioners ,was welcomed at the alter and we ALL drank from the same chalice. There was NO special "GAY" chalice. The Episcopal church is extremely welcoming to Everyone.(And golly gee anon at 12:41, we in the Episcopal church don't even make "gay" people sit in the back of the church in a special "gay" area.We don't make them wear a big letter "G" on their chests ,either.) Again, what a damn liar you are 12:41.Is this the liar on the Commission that hates Christians and has probably never stepped foot in a church of any kind? Lynn,I would NOT have printed this lie against Father Paul.He is a private citizen ,and to allow him to be slandered by the anonymous fool above should not have been allowed.

Churches just don't pay ad-valorem. They do may non-advalorem. I don't know of any that are involved in politics other than not advocating for abortion if you want to call that political.

Katie, you are not gay, and you have NO idea how he really treats us gays at the church! I am sorry, but you are wrong. Fr. Paul does make some of us gays dip and won't allow us to drink from the chalice. You are wrong, you just have never been discriminated against by him like some of us gays have who now will not even go to this church any more. He smokes a lot too and reeks of cigarettes smoke, not pleasant when you have to approach him or shake his hand, not good for a priest. You only know half the story, what you see, not what some of us have experienced.

So what if I'm not gay? And YES I do know how people in the church are treated! Don't hide behind anon you damn liar.NOTHING you say makes any sense. Does anybody out there think that this "GAY " would stay in a church if they were being treated this way? Of course not.Imagine,a whole gang of poor gay people so mistreated that they just slink away from their church in fear? And we're only hearing about it anonymously on this blog??? Please!Again, what a load of $hit You don't have to be gay to know what is going on in the Episcopal church. I have been to many services lead by Father Paul. Nothing that you accused him of above is true. And BTW- I've never smelled cigarette smoke on him.Is this the fat gay on the Commission and the city trying to buy the church property on the cheap?? I think we'll have to expose whoever is trying to take Father Paul down .
