State of the City

I still say, having a State of the City presentation just one month before re-election, is nothing more than a campaign speech. It is so obvious to everyone that it just slaps you in the face. This is a way to attract new voters and campaign at the same time--for free!

The mayor is, after all, a PR person by trade and she has always been Lake Worth's biggest cheerleader. She does an outstanding job at that. But it is what it is and we have no influence to change the timing of the State of the City address in order to make our election process fair even if it will never be balanced. Incumbents have a huge advantage as it is.

Although I did not attend, I am sure that the city was presented in a 100% positive light--even though we have tremendous code issues, slum, blight and crime and addicts over-dosing all over our city. And don't forget,  we have rate parity with FPL. or so we have been told.  Even if true, our water bills are out of sight.

No,it along with many things in this city are not fair. That is because the city is run behind the scenes by City Manager Mike Bornstein And William Waters. This lazy group of Commissioners has turned everything over to Bornstein. They are nothing more than overpaid figure heads. Nothing in Lake Worth will change until the Commission is changed.

Yes, LW is on the rise and getting better everyday. And let’s give credit for that where credit is due. Leadership! Consistency, Predictability, and dependability. The revolving door at city hall is fortunately a thing of the past. Our Mayor Pam Triolo after just 6 and a half years in office is the second longest serving mayor in LW’s history. Our Vice Mayor Scott Maxwell has served the city even longer. Our now current commission are finally all rowing the boat in the same direction. Consistency, predictability and dependability is what homeowners, business owners and investors look for when looking at a city to invest in.
